Born in July 1997 in Pakistan, she is known for advocating for Human Rights, in particular the education of women and children. She studied Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at Lady Margaret Hall at the University of Oxford. In 2008, she wrote a blog for BBC Urdu about her life during the Pakistani Taliban occupation of the Swat district, later giving an interview in a documentary.
A few years later, she was targeted and shot by the Pakistani Taliban for her activism. She was in critical condition and was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham. Following her recovery, she became known worldwide for her activism towards the right to education, writing books, giving interviews, and setting up a non-profit organisation called ‘Malala Fund’.
She was the co-recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize, and was the youngest-ever Nobel Prize Laureate. She has been featured as one of the most influential people globally by Time magazine several times.
