Next Stop: The Museum on the map below
This stop looks at another pioneering college at the University, established in 1879 for women, and in 2016 designed a scholarship for a foundation year for under-represented students. Malala Yousafzai was a student at Lady Margaret Hall (2018-2020) and was the youngest Nobel Laureate at the age of only 17.
Malala grew up in the Swat Valley region of northern Pakistan. When the Taliban took power in the area, they banned girls from going to school, destroyed schools, and silenced all dissidents with violence.
In 2018, she began studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) at the University of Oxford. She travels to many countries to meet girls fighting poverty, wars, child marriage, and gender discrimination to go to school. She fights to ensure all girls receive 12 years of free, safe, and quality education. Her goal is to help create a world where all girls can learn and lead.
